Virgin Voyages’ second Lady Ship, Valiant Lady, debuts on 17 March 2022 right here in Portsmouth, U.K., and although she is sister to my girl-crush Scarlet Lady we still don’t know very much about her. Or at least not officially.

One of the things potential sailors want to know is whether Valiant Lady is the same as her sister, Scarlet Lady. Well we think so, and here’s why. Whilst Virgin Voyages have been a bit reticent about giving away too many of the lady’s secrets (such gentlemen!), what we DO know is that she shares many family traits with her older sibling! For example good family genes means that her vital statistics are pretty much the same as Scarlet Lady; her fabulous cabins and Rockstar Suites are very similar (in fact Scarlet Lady has had a glow-Up so they match (see my related post here); and her eats, treats and beats bear a striking family resemblance too.

People are already talking about the new girl on the block - she is really going to turn heads. Here is what they want to know:

How Big is Valiant Lady?

Whilst not quite the biggest cruise ship in the world, Valiant Lady is a very shapely 110000 gt and stands an elegant 17 decks tall. Her length is 278 m (912 ft), Beam (Width) 38 m (125 ft) and she has a Draught of 8.05 m (26.4 ft). Valiant Lady has capacity to carry up to 2860 Sailors (guests/passengers) in 1408 cabins.

Is Valiant Lady All Inclusive?

Alcoholic drinks are not included in your fare, although they are very fairly priced. However Valiant Lady won’t let you go thirsty - she wants you to stay hydrated with still and sparkling water, non-pressed juices, sodas, teas and coffee. All 20+ eateries are included plus Wi-Fi, tips and unlimited group fitness classes.

Are Drinks Packages Available on Valiant Lady?

Virgin Voyages don’t offer drinks packages, but you can set up a pre-paid bar tab. Bar Tab is a non-refundable onboard credit that’s able to be spent on premium beverages all around the ship and at The Virgin Voyages Beach Club at Bimini. Currently, for every $300 pre-purchased for your Bar Tab, you receive a bonus of $50. (Note: Bar tab can only be used to buy premium drinks). Unlike some other cruise lines, you can use your bar tab to buy drinks for whoever you wish, and not everyone in your cabin has to have their own bar tab. So if you are sailing with a cruise-buddy for example, you could pool resources and get one bar tab to use for both of you.

The Bar Tab can be used in every bar/restaurant onboard Valiant Lady.

How much are drinks on Valiant Lady?

Virgin Voyages have listened to guests (sailors) who wanted a clear drinks pricing policy, and drinks are reasonably priced. Drinks prices on board are transparent and uncomplicated and include tips:

Bottled beer (e.g. Heineken, Amstel etc.) costs from $5-$6

Basic Cocktails (including those made with well-known spirits like Tanqueray/Jack Daniels etc) $9

Wine by the glass: Around 42% of wines cost under $10 a glass

Champagne: By the glass(non-vintage): $9. Bottle of Moët & Chandon: (using App to Shake to Order) $95 (expensive, but it will come in a red Champagne bucket).

Can you take Alcohol onboard Valiant Lady?

On embarkation, you can bring on two x 750ml bottles of wine per cabin, in carry-on luggage. No spirits or beer though and the wine should be consumed in your cabin (corkage applies elsewhere at $25). Good way to get the party started!

What is the dress code on Virgin Voyages Valiant Lady?

Unlike a more traditional cruise, there is NO DRESS CODE on a Virgin Voyages ship. So what should you wear? Well in the daytime, resort casual is ideal - you can even go topless at The Perch on Deck 17! If you do, it would probably be wise to cover up if you go to eat - ketchup down your cleavage isn’t a great look. In the evenings, wear what you like although most people dress up a bit for dinner. In fact, some fashionistas will go all out in their runway-perfect outfits. No-one is going to stop you entering a restaurant wearing shorts, trainers or even sandals with socks (tbh you are unlikely to find many of those on a Virgin Voyage). However, you may get the odd frown from people who have made an effort, particularly in the fine dining restaurants like The Wake, Pink Agave, Extra Virgin etc. or if they are celebrating a landmark event. Definitely bring something red to wear on Scarlet Night.

Entertainment on Valiant Lady

Is Valiant Lady a Family Ship?

If your family are all over 18, then yes - let’s party!. However Valiant Lady is Adult-by-Design which means no kids (sorry - or Yay depending on your viewpoint).

There are a wide range of cabins and suites on Valiant Lady to suit every budget - 21 categories in fact. Think contemporary superyacht-inspired styling with intelligent beds (yes really - you can reconfigure your sleeping arrangements at the touch of a button and drapes/curtains open/close remotely). There is a total of 1408 passenger staterooms onboard made up as follows:

Solo Insider (Cat I1) for sailors travelling alone.: 40 cabins

Which Restaurants are Included on Valiant Lady?

All 20+ eateries are included in your Virgin Voyages fare - no speciality venues on Valiant Lady, the are ALL special, and FREE. See my related Dining Guide for full details with photos and menus, but here is an overview of some of the most popular:

The Wake - Sophisticated steak and seafood - you can dress up if you want. Expect a chop-house atmosphere, a raw bar, table-side drink cart service and Champagne poured by the glass from a magnum bottle (just remember drinks aren’t included).

Razzle Dazzle - The Naughty but Nice venue Offers veggie (nice) and non veggie (naughty) options.

The Test Kitchen - A laboratory-like eatery, part cooking school and part restaurant.

Pink Agave - An elevated Mexican restaurant with immersive void lighting. Offering a wide variety of Mexican specialties.

Gunbae - Korean BBQ. A social, hands on, interactive, fun dining experience.

Extra Virgin - Extra Virgin is the ship's trattoria serving regionally-inspired and approachable Italian food.

The Galley - The food court (definitely NOT a buffet) featuring a mix of more than eight shops and food carts, including a dedicated bakery and pastry shop, a panini shop, a burger grill, a taco shack, a sushi bar with bento boxes, a noodle bar, a soup and salad stand, and a 24-hour American diner.

The Dock - The Dock is a rustic beach club-inspired space featuring carts of Mediterranean-inspired small plates, dips and mezzes, plus fresh meat and seafood skewers, flame grilled to order.

The Pizza Place - The Pizza Place on Deck 7 serves pizzas to your preference of dough, sauce, cheese and toppings.

Sun Club Cafe - for alfresco eats on the sun deck.

Are Drinks Included with Meals on Valiant Lady?

Still and sparkling water, non-pressed juices, sodas, teas and coffee are available with meals and throughout the day/night. You just pay for any alcoholic beverages.
