“P&O Cruises Arvia to be the “epitome of a sunshine resort” and offer first-ever high ropes experience at sea”

Introducing Arvia

Last week P&O Cruises announced that their beautiful new ship was to be named Arvia, meaning “of the seashore”. Today I can bring you further news about Iona’s sister ship, which P&O Cruises are describing as a ‘sunshine resort’ at sea.

P&O Arvia, sister ship to P&O Iona, is an Excel class ship and will arrive in December 2022, and I for one cannot wait! Building of the ship is already underway at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany.

Fast Facts:

Class: Excel

Tonnage: 185,000 tonne

Length: 345m

No. of Decks: 16 guest decks

Shopping: 1,300 sqm

P&O Cruises today announced many new features unique to Arvia, not least a swim up bar (make mine a large Sea Breeze), an infinity pool and a high ropes experience called Altitude Skywalk. There will also be 1,300 sqm of shopping, an Ocean Studios cinema, and Oasis Spa and Health Club. New dining options include a new restaurant Green & Co featuring Mizuhana serving a plant and fish-led menu.

A Ship for All Ages

Whilst Iona was very much marketed as a family-friendly ship, Arvia has been designed to appeal to all ages.

There is plenty to occupy the most active and adventurous amongst us. Guests will have a choice of two different Altitude Skywalks high ropes courses, some 54m above the ocean. Another P&O Cruises first is the Altitude Minigolf comprising of nine mini golf challenges, which will be located below Altitude Skywalk.

More of a water-babe? - well how about a dip in the stunning infinity pool with an uninterrupted vista of the ship’s wake (my favourite view) and an icy cocktail from the swim-up bar - all part of the Arvia on deck experience.

True to her name, Arvia is designed to bring guests even closer to the sea, sky and shore, She is to feature P&O Cruises first-ever-retractable roof SkyDome, a relaxed pool environment by day with dining and entertainment by night, including stunning aerial performances, theatre productions and blockbuster movies al fresco on SeaScreen.

As well as contemporary entertainment experiences Arvia will feature twelve restaurants and an additional eight casual eateries.

Green & Co featuring Mizuhana with a plant and fish-led menu, served in chic and elegant surroundings, has been especially developed for Arvia. Mizuhana sushi bar will be within Green & Co where guests can watch expert chefs at work while taking in sea views. Expert food-pairing advice and vibrant cocktails complete the experience.

Be sure to check out the 6th Street Diner, informal by day with a sophisticated night-time vibe, featuring retro seating, atmospheric lighting and juke box and serving all-American flavours including speciality fried chicken and waffles with bourbon mascarpone. Of course for P&O purists, P&O Cruises distinctive signature restaurants from across the fleet - Epicurean, Sindhu, The Glass House, The Keel & Cow and The Olive Grove - will also feature on Arvia.

Arvia is the latest evolution in the P&O Cruises experience, embodying the newest trends in travel, dining and entertainment,
and will be the epitome of a sunshine resort sailing year-round to the warmest climates.

WELLNESS & PAMPERING ONBOARD ARVIA

Cruising is all about indulgence and wellbeing, and on P&O Arvia this is no exception, with guests having access to luxury pampering. The Oasis Spa boasts some new treatments exclusive to Arvia including two couples suites each with a hammam and steam room, a therapeutic cool room, a restorative salt sauna and an invigorating Kneipp Walk. What is a Kneipp Walk (I had to ask)? It is a sort of hydrotherapy treatment, alternating immersion in hot and cold water, which have two different effects on the body. Hot water facilitates relaxation, while cold water tones and invigorates. Arvia’s Kneipp Walk combines a pebble foot massage with hot and cold water treatments to stimulate circulation and boost vitality.

Arvia’s GREEN CREDENTIALS
