Award-Winning Viking Cruises Gain yet Another Accolade

Since it’s inception just four years ago, Viking Ocean Cruises has received recognition across the industry, and accumulated a number of prestigious awards.

Whilst it’s River Cruises were well-established and held in high esteem (for example winning British Travel Awards ‘Best River Cruise Line’ for ten consecutive years), it was a high-risk move to enter the competitive world of ocean cruising. Yet the launch of Viking Ocean Cruises has been a huge success story, far exceeding even the most optimistic expectations.

Viking Cruises Latest Accolade

Travel + Leisure, the largest travel magazine brand in the U.S., has voted Viking Cruises the world’s number one ocean cruise for the fourth year running. Given that the multi-award winning cruise line is just 4 years old this makes it all the more remarkable!

In the 2019 ‘World’s Best Awards’, the readership of the publication was asked to vote for the best cruise line taking into account cabins/facilities, food, service, itineraries and destinations, excursions and activities and value. Viking topped the large ship category (vessels that can carry 600 to 2,199 passengers) coming first against a formidable field of luxury cruise lines.

Previous Viking Ocean Cruises Awards

Since debuting in 2015, it’s fleet of five 930-passenger ships have been consistently pleasing the critics and, more importantly, their guests.

From a humble award for ‘The Best Burger at Sea’ awarded by Travel Pulse back in 2015 for the Pool Grill’s Pancho Villa Burger; to a swathe of awards for aspects of Viking Ocean Cruises’ Luxury Cruise Line status, the accolades keep coming and include:

2015 ‘Best Burger at Sea’ (Travel Pulse)

2015 One of the “10 Best Cruise Lines for Seafood Lovers,” (USA Today)

2015 Viking Star voted “Best Mediterranean Cruise.” (Travel Channel)

2015 (Viking Star) ‘Best New Luxury Cruise’ (Architectural Digest)

All six of Viking’s ships have been awarded a top rating of five stars by Cruise Critic – and Viking also received five awards in the luxury ocean and river categories of Cruise Critic’s 2018 Editors’ Picks Awards. Viking was again named the #1 River Cruise Line by Condé Nast Traveler in the publication’s 2018 Readers’ Choice Awards – and has also been honored as “Best Cruise Line for Luxury Ocean Cruises” and “Best Luxury River Cruise Company” in Luxury Travel Advisor magazine’s 2018 “Awards of Excellence” for a second consecutive year. This latest award from Travel + Leisure magazine is the icing on an already impressive cake, but I predict will not be the last that the Brand receives this year, particularly with their new arrival, Viking Jupiter to make waves.
