Cocktail of the Week - Frosé

Frosé

This week’s cocktail of the week just has to be Frosé, although I had never heard of it before Tuesday night at Virgin Voyages’ exclusive Scarlet Night.

It may have been a stranger to me until then, but I got to know it pretty well on the night and wanted to share the recipe with you.

This isn’t the official Virgin Voyages recipe - to taste one of those beauties you will have to book a voyage on their first ship, Scarlet Lady when she sails next year (you can book here).

Perfect for sunny, summer days this refreshing cocktail uses minimal ingredients, and is so easy to prepare.  This recipe serves 4-6 (or 1 if you can find a big enough glass😘)

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle of rosé
  • 1-2 cups of ice
  • 300g strawberries, hulled and halved (or 2 cups of frozen strawberries)
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 50g caster sugar
  • reserved strawberries & mint to serve

Method

  1. If you are using fresh strawberries, pour the wine into a deep roasting tin to freeze overnight (or at least 6 hours)
  2. Mix the strawberries with the sugar and leave to sit for 30 mins until the strawberries begin to release their juices.
  3. Place rose, ice, strawberries, lemon juice and sugar in a blender and blend until well combined.
  4. Taste and add more sugar (or sugar syrup) if necessary
  5. Decorate with strawberries and a few mint leaves.

TIP  S:

Choose a full bodied, deep pink wine as it will lose colour on freezing.

Using frozen strawberries will make it even more “slushie-field”
