Review of Atlantica Holiday Village Rhodes 2025

A Multi-Generational family holiday in Rhodes
We’ve just returned from a 10-night family holiday at TUI Atlantica Holiday Village Rhodes - here is our detailed review
Now that our children have their own families, we usually choose a couples cruise or 5 Star adult-only resort these days. However, when our daughter asked us to join them to share the cost of the two rooms required for a family of five, we jumped at the chance of spending time with them all - even if that did mean going to the mini disco every night!
Most people book Holiday Villages with TUI, but it’s worth noting that they are often part of large hotel chains and can be booked direct (in this case with Atlantica Hotels).

Why Holiday Village Atlantica Rhodes?
View from balcony of Relax Family Balcony Room
My eldest daughter has taken her family to several Holiday Villages during summer holidays - with a hefty price tag. As a family of six they require two rooms so their trips cost them close to £10,000 each year, although they’ve felt it worth every penny to keep the children happy. Food, entertainment and activities are all geared up for children of all ages.
My younger daughter and son-in-law were desperate for their first holiday in three years and really wanted to take the children to a Holiday Village but couldn’t justify the Summer holiday cost. However, we priced the same trip for October half term during a TUI sale and found a 45% reduction. As the children were not at a vital stage in education, they decided to take them out three days before school broke up, meaning an even bigger saving. We secured the 10-day All-Inclusive holiday in the top grade room for just £850 per person instead of £1800 per person at the height of summer, and £1300 departing three days later.
We specifically chose Rhodes as we had heard lots of positive reviews, plus the weather was predicted to be better than most other HV locations in October.
Layout of Holiday Village Rhodes
Map of Holiday Village Atlantica Rhodes
Holiday Village Atlantica Rhodes is made up of three zones:
Activity Area
Relax Area
Deluxe Area
Tropical Suites Area (not bookable via TUI)
It offers a variety of accommodation, seven outdoor pools, kids clubs, high ropes and lots of family entertainment.
The resort is divided in two (originally two hotels I believe), with the Activty zone, buffet and entertainment stage being on one side of a road, and Relax and Deluxe zones being located on the other side. There is a brightly lit walkway/underpass joining the two sides, which are approximately a five minute walk away.
Accommodation
There are various room options at Holiday Village Rhodes situated in different zones.
Activity Area Accommodation
The Activity Area is in the centre of the action - close to the Activity pools where everything happens during the day; close to the water park, the buffet and the Entertainment stage; and near the children’s clubs.
Activity Main Building Double Room with Balcony (max 3 people)
Activity Swim-up Double Room with Terrace (max 3 people)
Activity Double Room with Balcony or Terrace (max 3 people)
Activity Family Room with Balcony (max 5 people)
Activity Swim-up Family Room with Partition and Terrace (max 4)
Activity Family Room with Partition and Balcony or Terrace (4)
The main differences are location and bed configuration (two doubles, a double and chair bed, or super king size bed plus two singles).
Pros: you don’t need to walk far to anywhere.
Cons: it’s the noisiest, busiest area on the resort.
Relax Area Accommodation
Relax area Balcony and Swim-Up Rooms. Image: Kathy Taylor, Cruise Lowdown
The Relax Area is situated away from the main hub which is accessed by a bright, white-painted underpass/walkway, which takes just a few minutes to navigate. The main Relax Pool has a swim up bar, and there is a shallow, unheated paddling pool for babies and toddlers.
Relax Main Building Double Room with Balcony (max 3 people)
Relax Swim-up Double Room with Terrace (max 3 people)
Relax Double Room with Balcony or Terrace (max 3 people)
Relax Swim-up Family Room with Partition and Terrace (max 4)
Relax Family Room with Partition and Balcony or Terrace (4)

Pros: Quieter with massive pool area including a swim-up bar, and easy access to Meraki Food Truck, and the Spa.
Cons: Some distance from the main action (in reality about a 5 minute walk).
Deluxe Area Accommodation
Deluxe Family Partition Room with picture window into bathroom. Image: TUI
Deluxe rooms are on the same side of the resort as Relax rooms, and benefit from some extras. The pools are gated for use for only Deluxe guests (although key swipe required, you could reach in to open gate. However the AI bands are different coloured so you could be challenged at the bar for example.
Deluxe Swim-up Double Room with Terrace (max 3 people)
Deluxe Double Room with Balcony or Terrace (max 3 people)
Deluxe Swim-up Family Room with Partition and Terrace (max 4)
Deluxe Family Room with Partition and Balcony or Terrace (4)
Deluxe Suite/villa with Private Pool and Terrace (max 3 people).
Pros: Quiet area with large pool area; no fighting for sun beds; additional exclusive restaurant; bathrobes & slippers in rooms; jacuzzi bath and luxury shower. Close to spa.
Cons: The furthest away from the Activity Area, buffet and entertainment via underpass/walkway - but still only about 6 minutes (plus you can request a lift via golf buggy).
Our Holiday Village Experience
Our Rooms
Deluxe Family Room with Partition Sleeps 4 - Holiday Village Atlantica Rhodes
We opted for two Deluxe Family Rooms with Partition and Balcony (see above) on the first floor - rooms 4213 and 4214. We didn’t want to risk a swim-up room with young children (they appeared to have child gates but my grandsons would have easily climbed over), although swim ups benefit from an additional two sun loungers on their terraces. Our only disappointment was that our block didn’t get any sun at all (all the other blocks did).
The generous bathroom had heated floor, a jacuzzi bath with shower over plus a big multi-spray shower with rain shower-head. Water was always hot and reasonably powerful. We also had bathrobes and slippers. One thing you might want to bear in mind is that Greek plumbing can’t deal with toilet paper so you need to fold it up and put into bin. There was a huge picture window over the bath, giving a view out across the bedroom to the balcony beyond. Thankfully it had a Venetian blind - just remember to close this or you will have no privacy and may share unwanted views INTO to bathroom with the family!
We had a huge balcony with lime green metal table and four chairs separated from our neighbours by high wooden fence divider (which was annoying as it was difficult to socialise with our family next door). There are no interconnecting rooms on the resort.
There is a mini-bar in the room contain8ngva bottle of sparkling wine (too sweet for my taste), canned Greek beer, local brand fizzy orange/lemon plus full sugar Pepsi. These are replenished daily, together with 2 x 1.5 litre bottles of water. There is a kettle and teabags but no coffee maker.
Benefits of Deluxe rooms are that the pool is very peaceful and no fight for sun loungers. There is a bar in the area but no snacks (although only a short walk to food truck). Deluxe guests also have access to their own exclusive Cosmopolitan restaurant, which offers waiter served plated meals chosen from menu (follows same themes as buffet but much calmer). There is a a kids menu too or you can go to buffet after to top them up.
The Pools
There are seven outdoor pools in total on the resort - the most we’ve found on any we have stayed at previously. The Waterpark is in the Activity Area and is suitable for toddlers through to early teens. Within this you will find the lazy river, in fact the laziest river I’ve ever encountered - it took at least 30 minutes for a circuit as it is very slow-moving. There is also an indoor pool which is advertised as adult only in the spa (although it turns out children are allowed to use it with parents although wouldn’t describe as family-friendly - the staff tell you off for splashing).
The Activity Pool Nightime view at Holiday Village Atlantica Rhodes
There are three pools located in the Activity area, one of which is heated, three pools are in the Relax area - one with swim-up bar, and one pool in the Deluxe area.
Apart from the small heated pool near the playground where the swimming academy is, and the spa pool, all of the others are unheated (freezing when you first get in but you soon adjust - even our 3 year old grandson loved it).
A word about water toys - I wouldn’t bring any with you, It seems that most weeks there are plenty of abandoned inflatables left behind either drifting on the pools or left on the side, so before you buy any, check to see what you can find pre-loved in the pools. We inherited a huge lobster, a dragon, a dolphin and a unicorn, plus various toddler toys. We in turn passed these on at our departure.
There are pool bars in each area, which also serve teas, coffees, hot chocolate and ice cream.
We actually favoured the Deluxe pool and used that as our base. It was peaceful, no colder than any of the others, and it meant we could easily return to our room if the children needed anything. We set up camp there and then took the children over to the Activity pools briefly for pool party, or to use Waterpark. There were plenty of Sunbeds when we were there (October), and usually at least two of us stayed behind.
A Word About Swim-Up Rooms
Swim up rooms in Activity Zone
Apart from one block in the Relax area, swim up rooms don’t actually have a private pool area. They have terraces with steps down into the main pools. They are well furnished with both a table and chairs and two sun loungers. A few have hot tubs which look like they need a glow-up as surrounds showing signs of wear and tear. However, like the main pools, they are cleaned and treated every day.
We had worried about booking one of these with young children so opted for a balcony room. However, the rooms appeared to have a glass gate across the patio doors which could act as a barrier if you don’t have climbers!
Restaurants
The resort is all-inclusive - this means that all your drinks (except premium brands, champagne and bottles of wine) are included and you can eat in the buffet, snack bar, noodle bar, Meraki Food Truck and ice cream kiosk for free. If you are in deluxe accommodation you can also have breakfast and dinner in the Cosmopolitan Restaurant. Additionally, you can book one of three speciality restaurants during your stay (two if you book a deluxe room). We would have like to see earlier opening hours for the snack bar and an option to get food later in the evening.
We found the food to be very good quality in all the venues, even if somethings were not necessarily our taste. The children (aged 10, 7 and 3) pretty much lived on Pasta Neapolitan, nuggets and chips with Nutella on toast for breakfast, although there were lots of other options.
All menus in restaurants are marked up with allergen information alongside each dish.
Olive Chef's Market Buffet Restaurant
Olive Tree Buffet at Holiday Village Atlantica Rhodes
The restaurant is located in the Activity area. Opening Times: Breakfast 07.30-10.30, Lunch 12.30-14.00, Dinner 18.30-21.00.
You’ll find self-serve food in this restaurant, including full English breakfasts (even British bangers), lunch hot and cold food and themed dinner. Each night features a different theme, including Italian, Greek, International and Asian.
Kids' Dining
There is a separate room in the buffet for children, with counters at their height and serving all their favourites. There are child-friendly options at all the restaurants, although they are welcome to order from main menu.
Cosmopolitan Restaurant
The Cosmopolitan Restaurant exclusive to Deluxe Guests also has alfresco dining. Image: TUI
Located in Deluxe Area Opening Times: Breakfast Buffet: 07.30-10.30, Dinner: 18.30-21.00.
If you're staying in a Deluxe room you'll have exclusive use of this restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast offers the same food as in the Olive Chef’s Market Buffet, but in a much calmer environment. Dinner is also far more relaxed here and follows the same theme nights as the Buffet.
There is a salad/appetiser/soup buffet (don’t miss the Thai soup on Asian night - it was fabulous), and then two or three fixed shared starters which are brought to the table. The main course is à-la-Carte and served plated to the table (each dish is helpfully displayed on the counter as you come in so you can see what it looks like). There is also a kids section with usual options plus themed specialities. Desserts are served buffet style. We ate here most nights (food was lovely and portions generous), and then took children to buffet or topped them up with chips before it closed.
If you're staying in the relax or activity area, then you can eat here too – subject to a fee.
Snack Bar
Located in the Activity area. Opening Times: 12.00-16.00
Serving hot and cold snacks such as pizza, burgers, chicken giros, nuggets & chips, toasties, salad bowls and sandwiches.
As we were eating breakfast quite early, I would have liked the snack bar to have opened a bit earlier so we could have enjoyed a mid-morning snack, and also to have had a late-evening opening as there is nowhere to get food after the restaurants shut at 9 pm.
Meraki Food Truck
Located in the relax area. Opening Times: 12.00-18.00 June to September/Oct Half Term only
The food truck is behind the relax area and serves hot and cold dishes similar to the snack bar (but not pizza). The lady who runs it is quite a character (in a good way).
Noodle Bar
Located in the activity area at the back of the snack bar. Opening Times: 12.30-17.30.
A grab and go noodle service with a choice of sauces including teriyaki and hoisin. I didn’t eat there, but my daughter and granddaughter enjoyed theirs.
Chilly’s Gelataria
Visit Chilly’s Gelataria for complimentary ice cream. Image: Kathy Taylor, Cruise Lowdown
Located in the Activity Area Opening Times: 11.00-18.00
You can get complimentary ice-cream here, including soft-serve (vanilla, chocolate of a mix of the two), or scoops in waffle cones. Flavours included vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, pistachio, banana and Dubai Chocolate. They also serve popcorn - but go earlier in the day as they seemed to run out quickly.
Themed (Speciality) Dining
You get two visits to either Kuzina (Greek), Stars & Stripes (American Diner), or La Trattoria (Italian) themed à la carte restaurants during your stay, as part of the All Inclusive package (See below). Each of these need to be booked in advance, either by scanning the QR code in reception, or by using the silver terminal situated to the left of the reception desk.
La Trattoria à la carte Restaurant
La Trattoria - Dine overlook8ng the Activity Pool
Located in the activity area, overlooking the pool. Opening Times: 18.30-21.00.
This is the resort’s Italian à la carte, and in my opinion the best of the themed restaurants. You are able to enjoy a meal here for free as part of the All Inclusive package. Just a heads up, it's open 6 days a week, and you'll need to book a table as is the case with each of them. This was our favourite of the themed restaurants - the shared starters were divine, as were the choice of main dishes (pasta, risotto and meat dishes). The freshly made stone baked pizzas were delicious - it’s a shame you couldn’t order them to go!
Stars & Stripes - American Diner
Located in the activity area, close to the Irish Bar. Opening Times: 18.00-21.00.
This is an American Diner-themed restaurant serving burgers, chicken wings and ribs. You'll be able to enjoy a meal here for free as part of your All Inclusive package. As with the other venues, you'll need to book a table.
We didn’t eat here but it looked fun, even though I’ve since read mixed reviews.
Kuzina Greek restaurant
Located in the Tropical Suites across the road from main hotel. Opening Times: 18.00-21.00
This à la carte restaurant is another of the themed/speciality restaurants and features traditional Greek dishes.
The Chip & Egg Starter in Kuzina
We had read lots of positive reviews, but we were actually disappointed. It started off well when we were served a lovely meze platter of dips, olives and warm pitta bread. The shared starters, other than the ubiquitous Greek Salad, were a little strange - basically sausage, eggs and chips Greek style, with more pitta. The much-anticipated slow cooked pork shank was replaced by pork steaks, which the waiter actually told us were “hard” and not as described on the menu. Needless to say we didn’t order this, opting instead for a mixed kebab. However, when the beef, pork and lamb kebabs arrived they were reformed kofte type sausages served between more pitta. I usually love authentic Greek food, but felt the Greek night in the buffet and Cosmopolitan Restaurant was far superior to the restaurant options.
Paaru Sushi Restaurant/Adult-only Bar
Located in Deluxe Area. Opening Times: 19.00-23.00
Paaru is a Gastro/Sushi Bar serving Japanese food. It is not part of the all inclusive package so attracts additional charges. A reservation must be made in advance.
This venue wasn’t open during our October stay.
Entertainment
Evening Entertainment at Holiday Village Atlantica Rhodes
One of the main reasons to book a Holiday Village resort is for the family entertainment and kids clubs.
HV Club
The HV Club offers kids clubs for different ages, with age-appropriate activities. There’s the HV Creche for under threes, the HV Club for 3 to 8-year-olds, the HV Crew for 9 to 12-year-olds, and The Zone for teens, which runs things like mocktail-making sessions and TikTok classes etc.
Daytime Entertainment
Zorbing on Activity Pool Holiday Village Atlantica Rhodes
This is definitely predominantly pool-based in the Activity Area with a daily pool party, activities such as Paddle-boarding, canoeing and zorbing - all complimentary. There is also other activities run by “the Purples” (HV Entertainments Team) including circus skills, archery, sports tournaments etc. There is a charged-for Football Academy and Swim Academy.
There is a high ropes course (included) in the Waterpark area. Get there early to book a slot as it is very popular. If you are tall you may find it challenging as the ropes are more at child height.
Evening Entertainment
Evenings are all about family-friendly entertainment, like kids’ discos with special appearances from the HV mascots, The Widgets. The Entertainents Team (“The Purples”) work hard to keep everyone entertained. Kids favourites are PTY nights (you’ll soon learn the dance - and good news, you can find the soundtrack on Spotify so can continue the fun when you get home! You’re welcome!) Other popular segments are “Pull the Lever “ and also “Win Shady” both offering opportunities for little ones to get on stage and win prizes.
The entertainment is definitely cheesy and geared mostly to children - that said, there are some reasonable pop productions, a silent disco and a spectacular visiting dance/acrobatic act during our stay.
All entertainment takes place outdoors, and especially at the beginning or towards the end of the season, you will need a cardigan, hoody or jacket as it gets a bit breezy.
My only complaint is that the huge LED Screen backdrop to the stage was far too bright - I don’t think the screen had been adjusted from the Summer daylight settings. My husband who has pre-glaucoma had to sit to one side wearing sunglasses to avoid the glare. Not sure it was ideal for children!
If you are unlucky to get some inclement weather, other than cramming into the Irish Bar (see below), there really are no other options. We had heavy rain one afternoon and pretty much everything was cancelled.
HV Irish bar
Located in the Activity zone adjacent to reception. Opening Times: 16.00-00.00
The Irish bar is designed like an Irish pub, complete with the Irish flag and a Guinness pump (not included in the AI, and not actually working on our visit). There are TVs on the walls showing select sports events and a small fusball table and ice-hockey game, plus various gift vending machines, all of which require tokens. There is a machine in the bar where you can change up Euros for tokens, which can also be used for toddler rides outside.
The Irish Bar hosts the TUI welcome meetings and is also where you sign up for the Football and Swim academies. There is also very occasional entertainment here - check the HV App for details. Drinks are served at the bar during opening hours. Outside there is also a table tennis table for guests use and also for tournaments.
Tips to Get the Best From Your Trip
Download the Holiday Villages App in advance to plan your activities.
Book your speciality restaurants as soon as you arrive - they get booked up really quickly.
Take Calpol, plasters and small first aid kit etc. with you - there is a pharmacy in the village but quite a long walk.
Many guests take insulated mugs/jugs to keep drinks cool (and to take drinks back to their rooms).
Take your own beach towels - with so much water activity your pool towels will quickly get soggy.
Take some snacks to fill in the gaps between opening times (or buy from the hotel shop or the infamous ‘George & Catherine’ shop nearby).
If you have a late flight you can either reserve a late-check out room (around £150) or book a slot in a complimentary courtesy room. You can use all facilities and All-Inclusive benefits until you leave.
The Lowdown
Did we enjoy our time at Holiday Village Atlantica Rhodes? Absolutely! Would we book again? Yes - if we got a good price.
It is the perfect place if you have young children, but perhaps not so much fun for older kids, and definitely not for teens or couples. Food and accommodation is of a good standard and the pools are beautiful, but very chilly.
The village and nearby beach are disappointing, although you can get a bus or taxi to a more picturesque beach, Tsambika Beach, a few miles away. I like to explore my location so felt a bit confined, although we did take the bus to Lindos without the children one day (€4 each way). Not ideal for young children as crowded with lots of walking and steep hills.
The resort has everything you need, but if you want to explore, hiring a car is recommended.
