P&O Cruises Expands Family-Friendly Conservatory Mini-Suites on Iona and Arvia
Until now, Conservatory Mini-Suites typically accommodated between two and four guests, making them a popular choice for couples and smaller families. However, P&O Cruises has announced that selected cabins on both ships will be reconfigured to sleep up to five guests from summer 2026.
The move will see 23 Conservatory Mini-Suites on Iona and 15 on Arvia converted into five-berth accommodation. The new layout features a fixed double bed, a double sofa bed and a pull-down berth, allowing larger families to stay together in a single cabin rather than booking connecting staterooms, or two cabins.
The move further strengthens the family accommodation options available on Iona and Arvia, two of P&O Cruises’ most popular ships, while allowing more guests to experience one of the fleet’s most distinctive cabin categories.
P&O Cruises says the change has been introduced in response to growing demand from larger and multi-generational families travelling together. The additional five-berth cabins will be available on sailings from summer 2026 onwards.
What exactly is a Conservatory Mini-Suite?
Exclusive to Iona and Arvia, these cabins are a hybrid between a standard balcony cabin and a full suite. The standout feature is the conservatory - an additional glass-fronted living space positioned between the cabin and the balcony. Furnished with comfortable seating, it effectively creates a second lounge area where guests can relax, dine, read or simply enjoy the sea views, regardless of the weather outside. This area benefits from a much deeper balcony ideal for little ones to play.
Along with the conservatory, guests benefit from a spacious cabin, a fixed double bed, a seating area, a larger balcony and more overall living space than a standard balcony stateroom. The extra room makes them particularly popular with families, couples celebrating a special occasion and anyone wanting a little more comfort without paying suite prices.
The Lowdown
P&O Cruises created a brand-new cabin category with the Conservatory Mini-Suite - and now it’s making one of its most sought-after cabin types available to more families. Conservatory Mini-Suites already offer considerably more living space than a standard balcony cabin, and the ability to sleep five guests could make them one of the most attractive family accommodation options on Iona and Arvia. Expect these cabins to be in high demand during school holiday sailings.
