Celebrity Cruises Cancel Cruises Following Sale of Expedition Ships

Celebrity Cruises Cancel 2025 Galapagos Cruises After Sale Announcement

Celebrity Xpedition and Celebrity Xploration sold

It was revealed earlier this week that Celebrity Cruises had agreed the sale of two of its three expedition ships to Lindblad Expeditions. Celebrity Cruises has today announced the cancellation of all cruises onboard the Celebrity Xpedition and Celebrity Xploration from the start of 2025. The cruises were originally scheduled to operate weekly departures in the Galápagos Islands.

Celebrity Cruises confirmed, in a statement sent to affected guests and travel agents, that Celebrity Flora will continue to sail in the region. “On December 28, 2024, Celebrity Xploration and Celebrity Xpedition will set sail from Baltra for their final time as part of the Celebrity Cruises fleet,” the company said. “We remain committed to the Galápagos Islands, offering sailings on Celebrity Flora, a ship built to sail in the archipelago year-round.”

The company reassured guests by stating, “We want you to know you are in good hands. We understand how much time goes into planning a vacation, and as a result, we have put together options as alternatives.” Passengers affected by the cancellations have several options. They can move their bookings to cruises scheduled for 2024 onboard Celebrity Xpedition and Celebrity Xploration or change their reservations to similar dates onboard Celebrity Flora. In both cases, guests will have their category prices protected at the original cruise fare rate or reduced to the current cruise fare rate, whichever is lower.

For those who booked flights with Celebrity, the company will automatically accommodate air arrangements. Additionally, Celebrity Cruises will reimburse passengers for non-refundable change fees incurred on pre-purchased transportation, including flights, train tickets, or rental cars, up to $400 per person.

While Celebrity Xpedition and Celebrity Xploration will no longer be part of the Celebrity Cruises fleet after December 2024, the company remains dedicated to providing exceptional Galápagos experiences with Celebrity Flora.
