Windstar Cruises Visits Tahiti with Susan Calman
WINDSTAR CRUISES & TAHITI TO STAR IN NEW SERIES OF CHANNEL 5’S CRUISING WITH SUSAN CALMAN
Windstar Cruises, a leader in small ship luxury cruising, is to star in two episodes of the new series of Cruising With Susan Calman which will transmit on Channel 5 on Friday 12th and 19th January at 8pm.
The episodes will feature the 148-guest classic sailing yacht Wind Spirit as it cruises Tahiti and the Tuamotus Islands on a 10-night itinerary that highlights the serene natural beauty of the region with its pristine atolls, crystal-clear lagoons, lush rainforests and fascinating Polynesian culture.
Throughout both episodes, Susan will share her experiences as she snorkels with black tip sharks in Fakarava’s Blue Lagoon, visits the Gauguin’s Black Pearl Farm in Rangiroa, discovers the island of Bora Bora in an open-air truck and an outrigger canoe, accompanies the yacht’s executive chef on a visit to local market to buy supplies and joins Windstar’s complimentary Destinations Discovery Event on a small, pristine and secluded islet off Bora Bora which features a delicious private feast on the beach followed by a dazzling display by fire dancers.
Onboard Wind Spirit, Susan dines under the stars, dances on deck and chats with Wind Spirit’s captain, Belinda Bennett, the world’s first black female cruise ship captain who has become a role model to seafarers all over the world.
Augustus Lonsdale, Head of Sales – UK & Ireland, comments: “We were delighted to host Susan and the crew onboard Wind Spirit and are confident that these two episodes will inspire viewers to discover for themselves just why a Windstar cruise is the perfect way to experience the true wonder of the region. Windstar has been sailing in Tahiti for more than 35 years so no other cruise line knows the islands like we do, and no other cruise line offers as many seven-night departures, with longer 10-night itineraries to the Tuamotus and 14-night voyages to the remote Marquesas.”
Starting in February 2024, Windstar will replace Wind Spirit with the all-suite, 312-passenger Star Breeze which will sail year-round in Tahiti. The move will provide the option for expanded itineraries, create more guest capacity and ensure an elevated sailing experience given Star Breeze’s multiple dining options and enlarged spa/fitness centre. Star Breeze in Tahiti is the perfect choice for honeymooners and romantic couples due to its spacious all-suite accommodations which include the award-winning Broadmoor and Sea Island suites which are inspired by Windstar’s Forbes five-star sister hotels, The Broadmoor and Sea Island.
Wind Spirit will move to the Greek Islands and other top Windstar destinations and, in 2025, will undergo a complete renovation as part of Windstar’s multi-million dollar Setting Sails initiative to redesign and update all three sailing yachts. The project encompasses a full redesign of all public spaces with new layouts, furniture, wall and floor coverings, lighting and custom art. Guest staterooms, Premium Suites and Owner’s Suites will be fully refurbished including new furniture, interactive televisions and décor. Wind Spirit’s sister yachts, Wind Starand Wind Surf, will complete their renovations in 2023 and 2026 respectively and sail itineraries in the Caribbean, Costa Rica and the Mediterranean.
