New Cruise Ships for 2022

New Cruise Ships Scheduled for 2022

I am always excited to bring you information about new ocean cruise ships on the books of the major shipbuilders, its my ‘raison d’etre’! It is even more important to me after the events of the past eighteen months. At the end of 2019 I told you about all the fabulous ships we were looking forward to last year, but who knew that we would have to wait until this year before they became a reality. (see related post).

Well now cruising is back, and whilst some build dates have been pushed back, we can expect some astonishing new ships in 2022. Here is a rundown of which ships are due to launch next year (best plans and all that). Watch this space for full reviews in due course.

Cunard Mystery Ship

Cunard’s Mystery New Ship due 2022

A new Queen is set to be crowned in the Cunard fleet - sometime. The new ship will join Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth as part of the iconic Cunard fleet.

Back in October 2019, before all the uncertainties of 2020, Cunard announced that their fourth ship was being built in the Fincantieri ship yard in Naples, and that a milestone had been met when the first steel of the new ship was cut. This is the 249th ship, in Cunard’s 180-year history. The ship was originally scheduled to debut early in 2022. However it has since been announced that due to the pandemic, ships due for delivery in 2022/23 were subject to delays.

We currently know very little about this new ship apart from the fact that a World class design team is working on it, and that it will be probably be a Pinnacle Class ship., at around 113,000 gt and a capacity of around 3000 guests. Watch this space for further updates.
