Saga Unveils New Ship Spirit of the Moselle for 2025
Saga Announces Exciting Expansion with Spirit of the Moselle
A New Chapter in River Cruising
Saga, the premier specialist for those over 50 in the UK, is set to elevate its river cruise experience with the unveiling of its latest addition, the Spirit of the Moselle. Scheduled to join the fleet in July 2025, this announcement marks another milestone in Saga’s commitment to providing exceptional experiences for its discerning guests.
Building on the success of its sister ships, Spirit of the Rhine and Spirit of the Danube, the Spirit of the Moselle embodies Saga’s boutique design philosophy, promising a luxurious cruise experience along Europe’s iconic riverways.
Sergej Tocili, the Director of River Product, commented, “We’ve reached another great milestone in our river cruise collection. Spirit of the Rhine and Spirit of the Danube have proven to be a great success with our guests, and I expect Spirit of the Moselle will continue the same high-quality river cruising while allowing us to explore a wider range of rivers.”
With a capacity for up to 182 guests and 95 cabins, including 73 with French balconies, the Spirit of the Moselle mirrors the design excellence of its predecessors. Bright, spacious surroundings, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a focus on luxury define the ship’s ambiance. The lounge area and bar will serve as the social hub, while the panoramic restaurant will offer buffet breakfasts and waiter-served lunches and dinners. An intimate dining space at the ship’s rear will cater to special occasions.
The sun deck, adorned with loungers and seating, provides an ideal spot for guests to savour the passing scenery. Additionally, a lower sun terrace will be available for moments when the sun deck is closed.
Scheduled to commence its inaugural season in July 2025, the Spirit of the Moselle will offer Christmas and New Year cruises, predominantly navigating along the Main. Highlights of its itineraries include stops in Nuremberg, Frankfurt, Bamberg, and the UNESCO-protected Rhine Gorge.
Nigel Blanks, Saga Cruise CEO, commented, “The team and I are thrilled to see this exciting next step in our growing river cruise offering. I’m looking forward to welcoming guests onboard for the first time in 2025 to enjoy the levels of service, value, and exceptional experiences our guests have come to expect from Saga.”
The ship’s construction officially commenced in January 2024, marked by a traditional keel-laying ceremony at the Vahali shipyard in Serbia. As per tradition, a penny was laid as part of the ship’s first integral piece, symbolising good luck and safe passage for the vessel and its passengers.
As Saga continues to expand its purpose-built river fleet, the Spirit of the Moselle promises to be a valuable addition to the world of river cruising, offering unparalleled experiences for those seeking luxury and adventure on the water.
