Before choosing your cabin grade on Arvia, it is absolutely vital to know that P&O Cruises has strictly updated their accessibility policies. Booking the incorrect cabin category based on your equipment can now result in being denied boarding at the cruise terminal.

Here is what you need to amend or add to your Arvia booking plans:

Mandatory Fully Accessible Cabins: If you use a powered mobility device (like a mobility scooter or powerchair), or if you need to use a manual wheelchair inside your cabin, you must book a designated Fully Accessible Cabin, Suite, or Mini-Suite. You can no longer book a standard or partially accessible cabin with the intention of storing a powerchair.
The 14-Day Declaration Deadline: All mobility equipment must be declared via the My P&O Cruises portal at least 14 days before your sail date. Failure to complete this pre-cruise questionnaire means you will be legally denied boarding.
Strict Size Limitations: Any device brought into a standard or partially accessible cabin must fit comfortably through a narrow standard doorway (typically 52cm–55cm) and be stored fully inside the room. Blocking public corridors or elevator lobbies on Arvia is strictly prohibited.
Evacuation Assistance Pre-Booking: If you require an evacuation chair to safely navigate Arvia's staircases in an emergency, you must pre-register this need prior to your cruise, as P&O limits the number of guests requiring this assistance per sailing for safety reasons.

There are 55 wheelchair accessible cabins on P&O Arvia.

All of P&O accessible (adapted) cabins feature:

The accessible cabin bathrooms on P&O Cruises are wet room style shower rooms with a flush threshold into the stateroom. They have roll in showers that have hand rails and pull down shower seats. There are also grab rails on both sides of the toilet; one is fixed and the other is pull down.

Accessible cabin showers have a non slip floor however, if required, a shower mat can be requested once on board - these are subject to availability.

If you have specific requirements it is advisable to enquire at the time of booking as P&O Cruises are unable to make any changes to the cabin once on board.

Corridor & Venue Clearances: While public venues feature level or ramped access, certain high-traffic areas and cabin corridors can be narrow. You must never park or leave a mobility device in a corridor, as it blocks vital fire escape routes.
Navigating Thresholds: There are raised door thresholds leading to outdoor decks throughout Arvia. Approach these straight-on and with care to avoid tipping.
Strict Lift Etiquette: Arvia’s lifts are large but are often situated in close proximity to main staircases. Always check your blind spots and back out slowly, or request a traveling companion to guide you out safely.
Theater & Entertainment Seating: Wheelchair-accessible spaces in the Headliners Theatre and other entertainment venues are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Scooter users who can walk short distances will be asked to transfer to standard theater seats, and crew will park the scooter in a designated holding area during the performance.

Key Bathroom Features: Unlike standard cabins, ambulant bathrooms feature a step-free roll-in shower or low-threshold tray, along with securely fixed grab rails by the toilet and shower.
Standard Doorways: Please note that ambulant cabins have standard-width doorways. If you use a collapsible manual wheelchair, it must be folded down completely to fit through the door and stored entirely inside the room without blocking floor space.
