Lifestyle Cruise - Alternative Packing Ideas. Image: AI generated

Packing for a lifestyle cruise is a little different from a standard cruise holiday. While you’ll still need the basics, these themed voyages have their own dress codes, party themes, and etiquette expectations.

Whilst I can’t speak from experience I have done extensive (and very interesting) research. Here’s what to bring to make the most of your trip:

Essentials

✔️ Passport & Travel Documents – As with any cruise, ensure your ID, visa (if needed), and cruise booking details are ready.

✔️ Luggage with Locks – Lifestyle cruises encourage openness, but privacy is key. A lockable suitcase ensures your valuables and personal items are secure.

✔️ Sunscreen & Toiletries – If the cruise has clothing-optional areas, sun protection is extra important!

✔️ Condoms & Personal Hygiene Items – Playrooms and private moments require preparation, and while ships may provide essentials, it’s always best to bring your own.

Daytime Attire

Let’s be honest, it matters not whether you wear pineapples* on your clothes - everyone is pretty much going to be on the same page! (*if you are unaware of what this symbolises see my article “Alternative Cruise Dressing - IYKYK”)

✔️ Swimwear (and Extras!) – Many lifestyle cruises feature topless or clothing-optional areas, so bring a variety of swimsuits, cover-ups, and even nude-friendly sunscreen.

✔️ Casual Wear – Shorts, sundresses, and resort wear for port days and onboard relaxation.

✔️ Workout Gear – If you plan to hit the gym, yoga classes, or dance workshops, bring comfortable activewear.

Evening & Party Wear

✔️ Themed Outfits – Most lifestyle cruises have themed party nights (e.g., lingerie night, glow parties, masquerades). Check the cruise itinerary and pack accordingly.

✔️ Elegant Dinner Wear – While lifestyle cruises tend to be more relaxed than traditional cruises, upscale venues may have dress codes. A smart-casual outfit or cocktail dress is ideal.

✔️ Sexy Lingerie & Playwear – If you plan to visit private playrooms or clothing-optional areas, bring outfits that make you feel confident and sexy.

✔️ Accessories & Fun Extras – Masks for masquerade night, glow sticks for neon parties, and body jewellery to complement risqué outfits.

What to Pack for Theme Nights

Lifestyle cruises are famous for their themed nights, where guests dress up (or down!) to match the evening’s vibe. Themes vary by cruise, but here are some of the most popular ones you’ll find on Bliss, Desire, Temptation, and other lifestyle cruises:

Classic & Sensual Themes

🔥 Lingerie Night – Lace, silk, and seductive attire—this is one of the most popular nights, with guests showing off their best boudoir looks.

🎭 Masquerade Ball – Mysterious masks, elegant outfits, and a touch of sensuality make this theme a classic.

👠 Red Carpet Affair – Think Hollywood glamour, tuxedos, and dazzling gowns… with a sexy twist.

Flirty & Playful Themes

🎀 Pajama & Toga Party – From silky robes to barely-there togas, this relaxed theme is perfect for a fun, intimate evening.

👙 Bare as You Dare – Some cruises call this “Glow Night” or “Sheer & Sexy,” where guests wear see-through, neon, or barely-there outfits.

🔮 Fantasy & Fetish Night – A mix of leather, latex, and roleplay outfits—anything from dominatrix to angelic temptations.

Neon & Dance-Themed Nights

🕺 White Night / Glow Party – White and neon outfits glow under black lights, creating an electrifying dance party.

🌊 Naughty Nautical – Sailor hats, navy stripes, and cheeky maritime-inspired outfits.

👾 Rave Night / EDM Party – Think festival gear, LED accessories, and wild, high-energy club vibes.

Cultural & Costume-Themed Nights

💃 Latin Fever – Salsa, reggaeton, and spicy outfits—tight dresses, open shirts, and a high-energy dance floor.

🎩 Great Gatsby Night – A roaring ‘20s-inspired evening with flapper dresses and sharp suits.

👑 Gods & Goddesses – Grecian robes, golden accents, and a divine atmosphere.

Cheeky & Risqué Themes

🐰 Playboy & Bunnies – Men in Hugh Hefner-style robes and women in bunny ears, corsets, and stockings.

🎀 Anything But Clothes Night – Outfits must be made from anything except fabric (think duct tape, body paint, or creatively wrapped accessories).

🖤 Eyes Wide Shut – Inspired by the film, this theme is all about mystery, elegance, and sensuality.

Theme Nights need some extra thought when packing. Here are some additional tips:

  • Check the itinerary before packing—each cruise has its own version of these themes.

  • Don’t be afraid to go all out! Themed nights are a huge part of the experience.

  • Comfort is key. Even the sexiest outfit should allow you to move, dance, and enjoy the night.

Footwear

✔️ Comfortable Sandals or Flip-Flops – Ideal for daytime and pool areas.

✔️ Dress Shoes or Heels – For dinner and theme nights.

✔️ Sneakers – Great for excursions, gym workouts, or casual days onboard.

Extras for the Lifestyle Scene

✔️ Playroom Etiquette Items – Some couples bring their own toys, lube, or accessories. Always follow ship policies and be mindful of others.

✔️ Personalised Calling Cards – Some lifestyle cruisers exchange small, discreet cards with their names, cabin numbers, or contact info for easier socialising.

✔️ Mints & Travel Wipes – A small touch, but always appreciated in close-quarters settings!

What Not to Pack

❌ Judgemental Attitude – Lifestyle cruises are all about openness, respect, and fun. Whether you’re there to participate or just explore the social scene, a positive mindset is key.

❌ Too Many Expectations – These cruises cater to a variety of people and interests. Some guests are experienced, while others are just there for the vibe. Go with the flow!

Final Tip

Check the cruise itinerary, theme night schedule, and ship policies before packing. Lifestyle cruises are a unique experience, and the right wardrobe can make all the difference in feeling comfortable and confident!
