MARELLA CRUISES ANNOUNCES CAPTAIN
FOR MARELLA VOYAGER

Marella Cruises has announced that Captain Steve James will be master of Marella Voyager, leading the team responsible for the delivery of onboard operations on Marella Cruises’ latest ship which will enter service in June 2023.

The British captain, who has worked for Marella Cruises for six years, has previously captained Marella Explorer and Marella Dream, before she was retired.

Voyager will make her first sailing from Palma De Mallorca on 3rd June 2023 for the Highlights of the Mediterranean itinerary, where Captain James will bring the ship out of port to begin its inaugural summer cruises. The 1,912-passenger vessel will then reposition for winter 2023, with the Paradise Islands itinerary setting sail in November 2023 from Barbados, where guests can enjoy the delights of the Caribbean Sea, exploring; Barbados, Tortola, St Maarten, St Kitts, Antigua, and Dominica.

Captain James began his career working on submarines in the Royal Navy, before making the move into the cruise industry and working his way up the ranks, training at the Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth, as well as Warsash and Glasgow Nautical Colleges.

Captain James commented: “I’m really proud to be commanding Marella Voyager for her debut, and to be working alongside a truly talented and experienced team. I am confident that like the rest of the fleet, Marella Voyager will provide brilliant and memorable cruise holidays for all our guests.”

Supporting Captain James on Marella Voyager will be Jonny Ryley as Cruise Director; Georgio Katikkis as Hotel Director and Thomas Zinnert as Chief Engineer.
