P&O Cruises has just announced the launch of four new drinks packages on cruise holidays of five nights or more, all for a fixed price per person, per day. The new drinks packages will be available on board Iona and Ventura from May 20, 2023 and across the rest of the fleet by July 2023.
Whether you are a social drinker, enjoy a glass of wine with dinner, need that extra-special shot of caffeine, or only drink soft drinks, there is a drinks package for you on your P&O Arvia Cruise. Only you can decide whether it is appropriate for you, but here is all the information you need to help you make an informed choice.

Do I have to buy a drinks package?
Drinks Packages are optional extras and you purchase them at your discretion. Only you can decide if it’s right for you. You can just order drinks individually whenever you want and the cost will be added to your cruise account.
Is Tax/Gratuities added to Drinks Packages/Drinks?
No, the prices of the drinks packages (and individual drinks) onboard P&O Cruises are inclusive of any taxes/gratuities - the price you see is the price you pay!
How to purchase your Drinks Package on Britannia
Before You Go:
You can choose and purchase your drinks package on My P&O Cruises any time before you sail - just login with your booking number. Any applicable loyalty discount will be applied automatically.
On board:
Visit any bar on board within the first two days of your holiday. You can use on-board spending money to purchase your package and any applicable loyalty discount will be applied automatically.
Activating your package
Once you have selected your chosen package, any loyalty benefits will be applied and your cruise card stamped so that waiters and bar staff know you have a package. It will be activated immediately. Worth noting too, you can pay for your drinks package with any onboard spending credit you may have have.

1️⃣ Refresh Package
The Refresh drink package replaces the Childrens' Drinks Package. This offers a selection of soft drinks that everyone can enjoy.
2️⃣ Alcohol-Free Package
The Alcohol-free drink package is an improved Non-Alcoholic Drinks Package. With this package, guests get an enhanced range of soft drinks, non-alcoholic beers, non-alcoholic wines and non-alcoholic spirits, and selection of Costa Coffee (small).
3️⃣ Classic Package
The Classic drink package offers a wide range of soft drinks, hot drinks, beers, 175ml wines, 125ml prosecco, selected range of cocktails and selected 25ml spirits including P&O Cruises exclusive Golden Tide Rum and Marabelle Gin.
4️⃣ Deluxe Drinks Package
The Deluxe drink package offers everything from the Classic and even more! This includes 25ml and 50ml measures of most spirits, a wider selection of wines by the glass (including 250ml), a further selection of cocktails and the full range of Costa Coffee.

The Refresh Package on Britannia
Replacing the Children’s Drinks Package, the Refresh Package includes favourite classic fizzy drinks like R.Whites Lemonade and Pepsi to your choice of orange, pineapple and apple juice, this package is perfect for daily refreshment from poolside to the bar and can be purchased by both adults and for children.

What’s included in The Refresh Drinks Package On Britannia?
We all know how thirsty children get! When we took our four on cruises they were forever asking for drinks. It was much easier once we bought them a package and they could order themselves. So if you want to relax by the pool in the knowledge that they aren’t going to dehydrate whilst you do so, then the Refresh Drinks Package might be just the thing. Adults and children alike can enjoy unlimited large or small soft drinks including favourite brands, and selected juices by the glass . Plus remember, If you purchase the Deluxe or Classic drinks packages for the adults in your cabin and you’re travelling with children 16 and under, the Refresh package is included without charge. Bonus! Any guests aged 17 years old must purchase an Alcohol-free or Refresh package when any adult guests purchase an alcoholic package.

Restrictions on the Refresh Drinks Package
Each child assigned to the same cabin must purchase the drinks package. Sharing is not permitted.
Only available on cruises of five nights or more and must be purchased for every day of the cruise
Strictly not refundable or transferable when purchased on board
Only one drink at a time may be ordered (minimum 15-minute wait between orders)
Pepsi products are served on draught in the majority of venues, no substitutions.

Replacing the Non-Alcoholic Drinks Package, the Alcohol-free Package offers the very best value from Costa Coffee for a morning pick-me-up or one of our refreshing non-alcoholic cocktails at sundown.

The Deluxe Drinks Package on Britannia
Whilst I’m not a huge drinker at home, I do like to indulge when I am on holiday. Nothing beats a bucks fizz with breakfast, a class of chilled white wine with an alfresco lunch, and my personal favourite, a sundowner cocktail at sunset. With P&O Cruises Deluxe drinks package, The Deluxe drinks package you get the same selection as other packages but with the addition of premium and speciality brands. On the Deluxe Drinks Package guests can enjoy premium brands such as Grey Goose Vodka, Tidal Rum and Salcombe Gin, as well as an extended selection of cocktails, including a fresh Aperol Spritz or Sunset Cooler.

Restrictions on Deluxe Drinks Package
The same Drinks Package must be purchased by guests aged over 18 years sharing a cabin.
A complimentary Refresh Drinks Package will be provided to guests aged 16 or under where all adults travelling in the same cabin have purchased a Classic or Deluxe Drinks Package.
All Drinks Packages are limited to 15 drinks per guest in any 24-hour period, starting each day at 6am.
P&O Cruises reserves the right to refuse the service of alcohol at any time in accordance with our policy for the Responsible Service of Alcohol. This requires bar staff not to serve guests they believe to be intoxicated.
Only one drink may be ordered at a time. All drink orders must be at least 15 minutes apart.
Guests can only use their own Drinks Package to order drinks. Sharing or transferring Drinks Packages is not permitted.

Wine Packages on P&O Britannia

As discussed above, you can have wine by the glass within your 15 drinks per day limit up to £6.95 per glass when you choose the Ultimate Drinks Package. Alternatively, should you prefer a bottle (or two) with dinner or to celebrate sail-away or a special occasion, the Ultimate Drinks Package will give you 20% discount on bottles of wine. However if you are a wine-lover there is another option!
P&O Cruises also offer a range of wine packages which offer good value and savings of up to 20% on further purchases - not high street prices maybe, but competitively priced compared to restaurants and bars ashore.

6 Bottles for £120 or 12 Bottles for £230
If you were to choose the 6 bottle package it would work out at £20 per bottle. The 12 bottle option works out at £19.17 per bottle which represents a saving of up to 22% against equivalent items on board. You can mix red, white, rosé and sparkling wines.
Which Wines are included in the Captain’s Collection?

As you will see from the sample menu above, you are able to select from a wide range of favourites on the. Captain’s. Collection, and some new ones. I thought I knew wine quite well but there were several on here I’d never heard of. Wines come from France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Chile and the New World
For Sparkling Wine lovers, you have the option of an Asti Spumante or an Organic Prosecco. White Wine options include, amongst others,, favourites such as Chardonnay, Riesling, and Sauvignon Blanc. One of our favourites was the Vouvray as we drink this at home but have rarely found it on wine lists onboard our cruises.
There is only one Rosé on the list, but a good selection of Red Wine is included, such as a Pinot Noir, a Fleurie, a Rioja as well as others blended with Shiraz, Merlot and Cabernet grapes.
The Commodore’s Collection
6 Bottles for £145 or 12 Bottles for £270
Whilst we personally found all we needed within the Captain’s Collection, if you are a real wine buff, celebrating a special occasion or just have a favourite that isn’t on the other package (I must admit I was tempted by the Malbec and Merlot as they are my go to), you could check out the Commodore’s Collection.
The cost per bottle still isn’t prohibitive with the 6 bottle option working out at £24.17 a bottle, whilst the 12 bottle option works out at £22.50 a bottle.
Which Wines are included in the Commadore’s Collection?

There are eighteen wines to choose from - two sparkling (one of which is an English wine produced in my home county); six whites including a Chablis, a Pouilley Fuissé, a Riesling. a Sancerre and a Sauvignon Blanc; one rosé (a Sancerre); and a choice of eight reds including amongst others a Malbec, a Merlot and a Cabernet Sauvignon; and even a vintage port. (Correct at time of writing but prices/wines subject to change).
