Disney Cruise Line Expands Fleet: Four New Ships Set Sail!

What could be more exciting than a new Disney Cruise ship? How about four brand-new ships joining the Disney Cruise Line fleet? Yes, you read that right – four!
The magic number is indeed four, as revealed during the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase on 11 August 2024. Josh D’Amaro, with a little help from the musical group All-4-One, made the thrilling announcement that Disney Cruise Line will welcome four new ships between 2027 and 2031. This expansion will see Disney’s fleet grow from the current five ships to a total of 13, providing even more opportunities to experience the magic that Disney is renowned for.
While the names, designs, and itineraries of these new vessels are still under wraps, the anticipation is already building. With the arrival of these ships, Disney fans around the world can start dreaming about their next magical voyage.
But the exciting news doesn’t stop there. During D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Josh D’Amaro shared additional updates that have Disney enthusiasts buzzing. Next year, the Disney Destiny will set sail with a signature production that’s sure to delight fans of the classic Disney film, “Hercules.” The new show, “Disney Hercules,” will feature the beloved music and characters from the film, bringing them to life in a whole new way aboard the ship.
And that’s not all! Later this year, the Disney Treasure will debut with a brand-new stage production, “Disney The Tale of Moana.” This show promises to be a spectacular experience, featuring Te Kā, a 15-foot-tall puppet – the largest ever produced for a Disney Cruise Line show. According to D’Amaro, who has seen the puppet in person, it is truly breathtaking.
“At Disney Experiences, Imagineers dream, create, design, and build these stories into real places. And we have Imagineers in place right now all around the world because everything we’re going to share with you is in active development. Plans are drawn. Dirt is moving. I just want to be clear about this: We are doing everything you’re going to hear tonight,” Josh D’Amaro told the crowd.
