Founded in Florence in 1932 by Idilio Badiani, the legendary gelateria has been perfecting the art of gelato for generations. Now under the creative direction of artisan gelato-maker Paolo Pomposi, the brand is internationally celebrated for its heritage, craftsmanship, and commitment to using only the finest natural ingredients.
At the heart of Badiani’s legacy is its most iconic creation: Buontalenti – a rich, creamy gelato made simply with milk, cream, sugar and eggs. Named after 16th-century Florentine architect Bernardo Buontalenti, who is credited with introducing gelato to the Medici court, this signature flavour is now scooped exclusively at sea on Crystal’s luxurious ships.
