An Etiquette Lesson - Cunard

Cunard teams up with expert Grant Harrold for the ultimate etiquette lesson

He’s the UK’s pre-eminent etiquette expert and now former royal butler Grant Harrold has shared the ultimate lesson in etiquette, service and protocol on board Cunard’s iconic ocean liner, Queen Mary 2.

Having been a member of the Royal household of Their Majesties King Charles III and the Queen Consort at Highgrove House in the Cotswolds for seven years, Grant is the nation’s authority voice on the matter.

In a quickfire Q&A*, Grant shared his top etiquette tips, in which he revealed the most common etiquette mistake that people make, the secret to making a good first impression, and the one thing you should never do when serving tea.

This ultimate lesson served as a timely reminder of the luxury, glamour and royally tremendous treatment that can be enjoyed aboard a Cunard ship as the nation marks The Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort.

Grant, who now advises royal households across the globe, will also be joining guests onboard Queen Victoria for her Canary Islands voyage in May before embarking Queen Elizabeth later in the month for a Southern Japan sailing until 24 May.

In his Insight Speaker talks, The Life of The Royal Butler, Grant will recount his experiences working for the most famous family in the world, regaling guests with tales from Balmoral to Buckingham Palace.

These intimate seminars – given exclusively for Cunard guests – form part of the luxury cruise brand’s exciting coronation celebrations, which will also see TV footage of the historic event broadcast live aboard Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth, and Queen Victoria.

Grant Harrold added: “It was a real pleasure to join Cunard for this etiquette masterclass, and I am really looking forward to sharing many wonderful stories about my time as a royal butler at Highgrove, especially at such a momentous time for the nation. It will be a privilege to share my unique perspective on the British monarchy and its traditions with Cunard guests, especially on ships that boast Queen Elizabeth II, and the Queen Consort, as their godmothers.”

Join Grant onboard Queen Elizabeth’s Tokyo (Yokohama) roundtrip, 9 nights (Q318), starting from £3,519 based on two sharing a Princess Grill Suite, departing 15 May 2023.
