Frequently Asked Questions

How tall do you have to be to ride the Carnival BOLT?

Height & Weight Restrictions

Minimum height: 52” (4’3”), maximum height: 77” (6’5”). Weight limit is 300 pounds, per person. Kids under 12 have to pair-up and ride with someone who’s 15 or older.

There is a weigh station at the entry turnstiles that will check you meet the requirements above (don’t worry it won’t say or display your weight).

Is there a dress code for BOLT?

With health and safety concerns paramount, Carnival have this statement regarding attire when riding Bolt:

“Closed-toe shoes and pants (or shorts) are required. That means you can’t just wear a bathing suit! If you wear glasses, secure ‘em with a head strap or just take them off.”

Additionally, you are not permitted to take phones, cameras or GoPros on the ride.

Is BOLT free or how much does It cost to ride BOLT?

The price for Bolt is $15 for two laps of the track.

How fast does BOLT go on Carnival?

BOLT travels up to 40 miles per hour. Riders have control of a throttle which enables them to increase/decrease speed up to this limit.

How high above sea is BOLT?

BOLT at its highest point is approximately 187 feet above the water line.

Does BOLT operate every day?

No matter whether it is a sea day or a port day, provided the weather cooperates, BOLT will be running. That said, if it is considered too windy the crew will stop operations.

When is the best time to ride BOLT?

This is entirely a personal choice. On calm sea days you can expect BOLT to be extremely busy so it might be worth booking an early or late slot (possibly around meal times). However, it is likely to be windier whilst at sea which could potentially impact operation. Port Days are usually a bit quieter, and more sheltered so could be a good option. In this scenario early/late slots are likely to be busier (before/after going ashore).

Can I book BOLT ride in advance?

You have to book to ride BOLT, you cannot simply rock up and hope to join a queue or get in line. You will need to make a reservation in advance via the Carnival HUB app, which I suggest you do as early as possible in your cruise. You can then pick the date that you want to ride and select a 30 minute window. You will need to check in during that window or forfeit your ride (and your $15). You can cancel up to two hours before your slot to be eligible for a refund.

BOLT rollercoaster can be found on Mardi Gras, Carnival Celebration and brand new Carnival Jubilee.

Bolt is a one or two person ride per car. There are two cars, so a maximum of four riders will be on track at any given time.

Is BOLT scary to ride?

If you are a thrill-seeker and like an adrenaline rush, then you will enjoy Bolt. Expect a quick start followed by a loop around the back of the ship. BOLT then speeds up for some up and down sections, before circling back around the funnel culminating in a fast exit.

Does the BOLT rollercoaster go upside down?

No, unlike some conventional theme-park rollercoasters there are no scary loops or upside-down sections.
