Oceanview Café - So Far Beyond a Buffet

One of Celebrity Cruises’ signature favourites across the whole fleet, the Oceanview Café is the ever-popular buffet restaurant. This being Celebrity Beyond, of course, you may have difficulty recognising the new elevated version of this much-loved venue, which should perhaps be more accurately described as an upscale international gourmet marketplace.

The food, naturally, is of the same high standard we’ve come to expect from Celebrity Cruises, with all the popular options such as the carvery, Mexican cantina food and wonderful salad bars. However, unbelievably Celebrity have added even more live-action stations, including a bakery, an Asian stir-fry station, a made-to-order pizza station, a sizzling grill area, a sauté station and even a version of the popular beverage station, il Secondo al Bacio for your caffeine fix. If you have a sweet tooth, and who doesn’t, you won’t want to miss the dessert station with its unbelievable cake creations. The Oceanview Café is truly an Instagram era dream so make sure you have your camera ready.

Each station is so appetising that I usually forget my rule to choose just one option. I’m afraid my plate is often uncompromisingly filled with freshly carved pink prime rib, a spicy taco or two, a spoonful of a delicious curry and rice - and of course a side salad. Don’t even get me started on the desserts.

The bakery section looks like an edible work of art with all the different types of bread and pastries there are plenty of gluten-free options too. In fact, there are options for most dietary requirements including sugar-free desserts. However it is always a good idea to flag up any preferences prior to sailing, and also mention to the food & beverage manager in each restaurant who will ensure you have some delicious options.
