We have just completed our first post-pandemic cruise on the fabulous Regal Princess on a UK Coastal Seacation and I want to share as much as possible as it was sensational.

After the past seventeen months of lockdowns, I felt in need of some R&R, so I checked out this exclusive adults-only area onboard Regal Princess known as The Sanctuary.  Discretely tucked away beyond The Retreat, the adults only pool, you’d be forgiven for overlooking it, but take this mini-tour or see below, and I’m sure you will be seeking it out and reserving your spot even before you embark.

Resembling a romantic couples hideaway under its contemporary white canopy The Sanctuary is such a spacious, tranquil area with greenery and atmospheric lighting and music adding to the zen-like experience. Being on Deck 17 forward, you experience unprecedented sea views to the horizon. The addition of luxurious, plush loungers and daybeds, Serenity Stewards offering healthy refreshments, and a comfortable central pavilion makes this an ideal area for some well-deserved pampering.

Offering unparalleled relaxation and rejuvenation for a nominal fee, ($20 for half-day, $40 for a full-day, and a special whole-cruise (sea days only) rate of $30 for full day), guests can experience that additional touch of luxury.

Beginning at $80 for half day, for even more indulgence, you can reserve one of four private Sanctuary Cabanas, in which guests will find comfy sofas and a TV with noise-cancelling headphones.  After enjoying a welcome cocktail, guests are provided with luxury robes and slippers, offered delectable healthy bites such as nuts and fresh fruit, and there is even a fully stocked mini-bar.

If you really want to push the boat out (excuse the pun) there are two exclusive Lotus Spa Cabanas offering an elegant ultra luxurious private space for a range of spa treatments including an alfresco massage experience. In addition to the facilities offered by The Sanctuary Cabanas described above, The Lotus Spa Cabanas include two massage tables for a refreshing couples massage with fabulous ocean views looking out over the front of the ship.  There are a range of customized packages from between $320 to $3,000 including the ultimate “Royal Indulgence” package. This exclusive experience provides all-day massages and gourmet food and beverages for four people.

As I mentioned, The Sanctuary is adjacent to the Retreat Pool which provides another exclusive area for adults to relax and rejuvenate. It’s the perfect spot to cool down, before returning to your private domain.  The Retreat pool area on Regal Princess is larger than adult pools on other Princess ships, and even if you can’t book The Sanctuary,  Retreat Cabanas can be reserved for an enhanced experience. They offer personal poolside space, and you even indulge in one of the ship’s special picnic baskets. The adults-only Retreat Pool is complimentary, but Retreat Pool Cabana rental starts at $50 for a half day. I’ve also since found out that at night, this area turns into the “Chill Lounge,” offering guests a relaxed outdoor space to enjoy the night with drinks and music. If only I’d known!

You can book in advance using your OceanMedallion, from your stateroom, using one of the many portals or by visiting in person.
