P&O Cruises - The Ultimate Guide to the Spa and Wellness on Iona
Iona Spa Highlights | Treatment Menu | Prices
P&O Cruises Iona came into service in 2021 and has been a favourite with cruise fans ever since, and quite rightly so. Iona is a beautiful ship with a wealth of facilities onboard, including 4 swimming pools, 30 restaurants and bars and 10 entertainment venues. Of course, cruising is not just about eating and drinking, (although that is a huge part of the attraction), it is also about having “me time” and rest and relaxation, and where better to get that much needed R&R but in the onboard spa.
Iona's Tranquil Spa Retreat
The Oasis Spa on P&O Iona is a wonderful haven of relaxation, offering an array of authentic destination-inspired moments in a beautifully designed space situated across decks 5 & 6. The aesthetic is understated and elegant, providing the perfect atmosphere for unadulterated mindful relaxation. From a Thermal Suite with heated loungers to a chilled relaxation lounge with ocean views, Iona's spa is designed with your well-being in mind. There are expert therapists and beauticians ready to pamper you in the treatment rooms offering a range of premium treatments. Salon services are available including The Barbers Shop, Kerastase treatments and the Blow Out, Lash and Brow Bar.
Is the Spa on Iona Free?
Whilst entry to the gym and fitness studio is free to use, there is a fee to use the Spa facilities with a day past costing £39 and a weeks pass costing £129. Treatments are individually priced.
The Thermal Suite
As part of your spa experience you can enjoy the thermal suite with heated loungers, sauna, sensory steam room and experiential showers that are on offer. There is also a hydrotherapy pool with massaging jets and air recliners. You will need to have purchased a pass to use these facilities.
Gym and Fitness Studio
Whether maintaining your fitness regime or starting a new one, Iona's on-board gym and fitness studio will provide a workout that works. The gym offers a range of classes, from meditation to more energetic options, catering to every interest and ability.
Expert fitness professionals are on hand to guide you, whether it’s a one-to-one personal training session or a group class. If you want to do your own thing, they’ll show you how to use the latest equipment and gym technologies, such as Technogym innovation, free weights and exercise bikes, to help you perform at your best. The gym is typically open from 8am to 8pm every day and use of the equipment is complimentary. With floor-to-ceiling windows, your workouts come with a serious view, too.
A new range of classes has been carefully curated to suit every interest and ability. Whilst use of the gym equipment is complimentary, the following classes attract a small additional charge and can be booked on board:
Functional training/HIIT – a cardio workout to boost stamina and hone body conditioning
Tour de Cycle – build metabolic and muscle stamina whilst also improving cardio strength and physical capability, as a curated playlist motivates each beat of the class (£15 for 45 mins).
Pure-form yoga – Hatha yoga is a free-flow class that focuses on the breathing whilst moving between and holding postures. Suitable for all levels of fitness, this ancient tradition is built around the concept of a moving meditation (£14 for 45 mins).
Pure-form Pilates – based on the principles of breathing, control and precision, this class is particularly good for those looking to lengthen and tone up without the need for a cardiovascular workout (£14 for 45 mins).
Mindful programming – connect mind, body and soul with meditation and breathing classes.
You can purchase a Select Class Pass which gives you access to three classes for £29. Look out for discounts and offers onboard or contact Guest Services or Spa Reception for details of passes for the duration of your cruise.
Beauty and Wellness Treatments
A holiday gives you time and space to take care of yourself, and there’s no better way to do so than with beauty and wellness therapies that put the focus on relaxation and restoration. Expert therapists and aestheticians offer premium treatments, including destination-inspired therapies like Nordic Soapstone Therapy and Baltic Fire & Ice Massage. Iona proudly introduces new treatments, such as the ELEMIS Superfood Pro-Radiance facial and the Restorative Salt Stone Massage (see below). A range of couple massages are also available, from £159 for a 50 minute Swedish Massage.
You’ll find a wide range of premium treatments that are favourites across the wider fleet, from aroma stone therapy and Swedish massages to facials and Fire & Ice pedicures and manicures. Iona is, however, proud to introduce some exciting new therapies, including:
Destination-inspired treatments – a range of traditional, local treatments and therapies that bring the destination to the spa, including the Nordic Soapstone Therapy and the Baltic Fire & Ice Massage
ELEMIS Superfood Pro-Radiance facial – energise and detoxify stressed, dull skin with a nutritional superfood boost. Leaves skin, plumper, radiant and lit up with good health (£99 for 50 mins).
Restorative Salt Stone Massage – an invigorating deeply restorative body massage that harnesses the beneficial properties of Himalayan pink salt stone (£149 for 75 mins).
MLX QUARTZ BED (The Psammo Concept) – Psammotherapy (Hot Sand Therapy) was used in Ancient Egypt to treat a number of ailments and today this treatment is all about relaxation as warm sand quartz cocoons the body and replicates the benefits of a day spent at the beach.

The Barber Shop – a stylish grooming club that offers a menu of traditional services, such as haircuts and deep cleansing shaves, and more adventurous skin and medi-spa treatments.
Kérastase treatments – to deliver the most advanced luxury hair treatments, Iona’s styling team use Kérastase services and products, courtesy of salon leaders L’Oréal. Among them are a speciality colour bar, a hair and scalp diagnostic and luxury haircare rituals and treatments

Innovative Wellbeing Features
Iona also boasts exciting well-being innovations and fleet firsts:
Salt steam room – similar to a classic steam room, this space has the added benefit of a salt brine solution injected into the room. It’s said that a 45-minute treatment offers health benefits equivalent to spending three days at sea, including all the positive benefits for skin and respiratory conditions that breathing in clean, sea air can bring.
Experiential retail boutique - a shop dedicated to skin, body and hair care, where you can explore a range of products
Sensory itinerary-led treatment journeys that evoke the magic of global destinations.
The Retreat on Iona
If you are looking for a bit of grown-up luxury, Iona also features the serene and sophisticated adult-only Retreat up on Deck 18 boasting two infinity whirlpools with uninterrupted sea views, day beds, private cabanas and complimentary smoothies or fruit platters. Ideal for an indulgent treat (additional cost applies). There is a bar (or juice station if you prefer a healthier option), or you can just chill out in one of the hammocks or luxury day beds.
The Retreat on Iona boasts a commanding spot on deck 18 above The Crow’s Nest. This signature feature is a quiet haven in which you can reconnect with nature, yourself or your loved ones – the epitome of calm where you can relax and enjoy the sights floating past.
Booking is essential as numbers are limited. This premium VIP open-air deck area attracts an additional charge - at the time of writing this was £40 for a day pass. Passes are available for the duration of your cruise, sometimes discounted when onboard. A 7 night pass was £145 on our visit. Note this doesn’t include entrance to the Thermal Suite.
Cabanas
For more intimate moments of calm and serenity, private shaded cabanas allow you to lounge in luxury within your own space on a secluded day bed. It’s the ideal atmosphere to ease away any tension with an alfresco spa treatment – soothed by the sounds of the ocean and the cooling sea breeze.
