Star Princess Postponed
Princess Cruises Delays Delivery of Star Princess, Cancels Inaugural Sailings
Princess Cruises, in collaboration with the Fincantieri shipyard, has mutually agreed to postpone the delivery of Star Princess. Originally scheduled for July 29, 2025, the delivery has been rescheduled to September 26, 2025. This delay has unfortunately resulted in the cancellation of the nine planned inaugural sailings.
The decision to postpone the delivery was reached after a thorough review of the remaining construction milestones. President John Padgett stated, “Despite our collective dedication and relentless pursuit to deliver the ship in late July, it has become evident that additional time is required to ensure the Star Princess is delivered to the highest standards expected by our guests.”
Guests who had booked on any of the impacted sailings will be offered the opportunity to book any Princess cruise worldwide, on any Princess ship. Those who choose to rebook will receive future cruise and onboard credit, depending on the cruise selected. Alternatively, impacted guests will have the option to cancel and receive a full refund of the cruise fare. Princess Cruises has assured travel agents that commissions will be protected on all bookings that have been paid in full.
The revised inaugural cruises for Star Princess are set to open for sale on April 30, 2024. This postponement follows the delay of the inaugural sailing of the sister vessel, Sun Princess, which has since been launched.
