HX Partners with Air Greenland to Enhance Expedition Cruises

HX Announces Partnership with Air Greenland for 2025 itineraries

HX (Hurtigruten Expeditions), the world’s leading expedition cruise operator, is thrilled to announce a strategic partnership with Air Greenland, set to elevate the travel experience for its guests. This pioneering collaboration makes HX the first expedition cruise company to invest in such a partnership, aligning seamlessly with Greenland’s burgeoning tourism economy.

Starting in 2025, HX will offer direct flights for guests into Greenland’s capital, Nuuk, unveiling three new ‘Grand Greenland’ itineraries aboard the hybrid-battery-powered MS Fridtjof Nansen. These itineraries will provide extended exploration along Greenland’s west coast and venture further north than ever before, including a journey to Thule and Kane Basin, exploring the northernmost reaches of the world.

Guests will enjoy the convenience of flying on Air Greenland planes, which offer favourable departure and arrival times from key hubs such as Copenhagen. Additionally, the collaboration includes brand-new pre- and post-cruise programmes. These offerings feature stays at stunning waterfront lodges in Ilimanaq, boasting spectacular views of towering icebergs, and unique local activities like fishing trips in Nuuk, providing an authentic taste of Greenlandic culture.

HX CEO, Daniel Skjeldam, alongside Air Greenland CEO, Jacob Nitter Sørensen, emphasised the significance of this collaboration at a recent event in Nuuk. Skjeldam remarked, “Greenland’s breathtaking landscapes and resilient people inspire us daily at HX. We are committed to contributing to Greenland’s sustainable growth and development.”

The partnership aims to enhance connectivity between Greenland and the wider world, fostering economic and social value. “We are honoured to partner with Air Greenland in a way that upholds fairness and promotes sustainability, with the aim of setting a new standard for community-focused tourism,” Skjeldam added.

Both HX and Air Greenland share a vision of sustainable tourism, innovation, and community engagement. This collaboration transcends a mere commercial agreement, striving for robust growth opportunities for all Greenlanders. “Our mission is to ensure our guests leave with a deep appreciation and love for Greenland,” Skjeldam concluded.
