Virgin Voyages Complete Drinks Guide

Ultimate Guide To Bars on Virgin Voyages

All you need to know about drinks, bars, and drinks packages across the Virgin Voyages ships. Virgin Voyages Drinks Prices, Bar Menus, Wine Lists - even what’s in the mini bar! With photos and location of bars on deck plans. Cheers!

Virgin Voyages Lady Ships - Scarlet Lady, Valiant Lady and Resilient Lady - are there to meet our every need. Whether that is dining (see my Valiant Lady Ultimate Restaurant Guide), wellness, entertainment or quenching our thirst, Virgin Voyages has us covered.

What Drinks Are Included on Virgin Voyages

You definitely won’t go thirsty on a Virgin Voyage - you can stay hydrated with complimentary still and sparkling water, non-pressed juices, sodas, teas and drip coffee which ARE included.

Are Drinks Free on VirgIn Voyages ?

Some beverages are free, but not alcohol. Alcoholic drinks are not included in your fare, although they are very fairly priced.

Does Virgin Voyages Have Drinks/Beverage Packages?

Selection of cocktails on ice counter.

Virgin Voyages does not offer drinks packages, on any of their ships.. They have instead opted for a policy of fair (reasonable) and transparent pricing. However, if you like to have a little more control on your spend on beverages, or like to know that everything is taken care of before you go, you can set up a pre-paid bar tab (see below).

There is ONE way to get inclusive drinks - book yourself one of the Mega-Rockstar Quarters and you will bag yourself a bottomless bar in your suite access to complimentary cocktail parties in the elite VIP Richard’s Rooftop bar and exclusive free drinks and bottles of wine around the ship with a daily bar tab (with reasonable limits, of course).

What is Virgin Voyages Bar Tab?

The Bar Tab is a non-refundable onboard credit (OBC) that can be spent on premium drinks all around the ship and at The Virgin Voyages Beach Club at Bimini. Currently, for every $300 pre-purchased for your Bar Tab, you receive a bonus of $50/$100 bonus (check out current offer).

Can I Share My Virgin Voyages Package/Bar Tab?

Unlike on some other cruise lines, you can use your bar tab to buy drinks for whoever you wish, and not everyone in your cabin has to have their own bar tab. So if you are sailing with a cruise-buddy (or meet one onboard) for example, you could pool resources and get one bar tab to use for both of you. The Bar Tab can be used in every bar/restaurant on Virgin Voyages including at the Bimini Beach Club. Remember though, whoever’s account is credited with the bar tab (can’t be split) is in the chair. Drinks are on them!

What Are Premium Drinks on Virgin Voyages?

Premium drinks are beverages like barista-made coffees (lattes, cappuccino etc.); freshly squeezed juices; special hand crafted cocktails (e.g. cocktails like Woodford Manhattan, Stoli Elit Martini, Casamigos Gimlet); premium beers (usually costing over $6.99 e.g., Wynwood Brewing, Boulevard Brewing, Lagunitas, Funky Buddha); premium brand spirits (liquor) such as Ketel One, Hendricks, Patron Silver, Johnnie Walker Black, Stoli Elit, Hennessey VS, Casamigos Silver. Check out bar menus below for prices.

What’s the Drinking Age on Virgin Voyages?

Although in Europe 18 is the legal drinking age, in the US, where Virgin Voyages has its HQ, it is 21. Guests must adhere to the Virgin Voyages Beverage Policy - which states that over 18s may only drink alcohol at sea.. Virgin Voyages policy says that guests aged 18 to 20 (an “Under-21 Adult”) must be accompanied in the same or adjoining stateroom by a Guest 21-years or older who expressly agrees to be responsible for the Under-21 Adult throughout the Voyage.

How Much Are drinks Prices on Virgin Voyages?

Virgin Voyages have reasonable drinks prices on board which are shown clearly on all menus. Transparent and uncomplicated drinks prices are in US dollars and are inclusive of taxes and tips - so what you see is what you pay.

As an example:

Bottled beer (non premium e.g. Heineken, Amstel etc.) costs from $5-$6

Basic Cocktails (including those made with well-known spirits like Tanqueray/Jack Daniels etc) $9

Wine by the glass: Around 42% of wines cost under $10 a glass

Champagne: By the glass(non-vintage): $9. Bottle of Moët & Chandon: (using App to Shake to Order) $95 (expensive, but it will come in a red Champagne bucket).

See individual bar menus below for full pricing guides.

Can you take Alcohol Onboard on Virgin Voyages?

You can bring on two x 750ml bottles of wine per cabin, in carry-on luggage on embarkation. You can’t bring on spirits or beer, and the wine should be consumed in your cabin (you will face a corkage charge of $25 elsewhere!).

What Drinks Are in the Mini Bar?

Apart from water, nothing is free in the mini bars In cabins. The mini bar contains: Moet & Chandon champagne 375 ml ($45); Wine: red, white & rose 375 ml ($15); Craft Cocktails 200 ml ($13); Beer ($5-$7); complimentary water; a corkscrew ($25); an Octopus ($12); a sleep kit ($30) and … wait for it… an Intimacy Kit ($30).

Mezcal Bar on Virgin Voyages Lady Ship Image: Virgin Voyages

This Mexican-influenced bar can be found just inside the entrance to Pink Agave - Virgin Voyages’ lively upscale Mexican restaurant. The bar serves a huge selection of authentic drinks including a large range of tequilas and smoky mezcals, after which the bar is named. Did you know that Mezcal is produced from the Agave cactus? Try one of the cocktails, or for something different sample a Fresca Spiked - a popular refreshing Mexican fruit juice and water drink mixed with a liquor of your choice. So delicious it must be good for you right?

Red Bar in Virgin Voyages Razzle Dazzle Restaurant. Image: Virgin Voyages

Red Bar can be found in Razzle Dazzle, Virgin Voyages’ naughty but nice vegetarian-forward restaurant. You will find Red Bar tucked away in the eatery - easily recognisable as it is in the “red area’ of what is a predominantly monochrome decor. Obviously one to enjoy pre/post dinner in the restaurant, but worth a visit even if not just for the interesting cocktails - Gym Bunny anyone?

The Wake on Virgin Voyages Image: Virgin Voyages

The upscale Steak and Seafood Wake restaurant has an extensive wine list for budding sommeliers, plus a popular martini bar/table-side martini mixologist. One of my favourite venues, always guaranteed to make your night feel special.

The Bar within The Test Kitchen on Virgin Voyages. Image: Virgin Voyages

Not a bar as such, but this futuristic experiential science-lab influenced restaurant offers optional drinks pairing options. You can choose from a beer pairing ($25), a wine pairing ($35), a cocktail pairing ($35) or a non-alcoholic pairing ($25). If you choose one of the optional packages you will be offered a drink designed to complement each of the six creative courses of The Test Kitchen’s tasting menu.

Bar Seating in Extra Virgin Image: Virgin Voyages

This Wine Bar is situated in the upscale Italian restaurant, Extra Virgin. It’s perfect for an aperitif before a delicious dinner, or a post-dinner liqueur- Limoncello anyone? Of course if you are a wine connoisseur, it’s the perfect bar for you anytime. Featuring a good selection of whites, reds, rosés and sparkling wines plus beers, cocktails and liqueurs.

On The Rocks Bar on Virgin Voyages Ship. Image: Virgin Voyages

This is the first bar I ever tried on my first encounter with Virgin Voyages, on Scarlet Lady. It is located in the very instagramable Roundabout (which on other ships would be the atrium). It’s a lively hub and will often have some sort of entertainment going on including the resident band Virgin style!. Great mixology goes on here with fabulous cocktails, but this bar’s speciality is aged whiskies served, as it’s name implies, On The Rocks.

On the Rocks Menu

No cruise ship is complete without a casino - even a Virgin Voyages ship, and whether it’s for Dutch courage, toasting Lady Luck, or to drown your sorrows, check out the Casino Bar which shares opening hours with the Casino itself. If it’s open for business, so is the Casino Bar.

The Bar in Virgin Voyages Manor Nightclub. Image: Virgin Voyages

Another Roman and Williams designed space, The two-storey Manor is the signature nightclub and event space inspired by Richard Branson’s history in the music industry and his first ever Virgin music studio of the same name. With live performances every night before you get down and dirty on the dance floor, its THE place to be once the sun goes down. Don’t miss the sparkly mirrored entrance - the must do selfie-spot.

Not only an al fresco dining favourite, The Dock on Virgin Voyages is also an outdoor lounge and bar designed by Roman and Williams.  The focus is very much on relaxation, socialising and an appreciation of the gorgeous views the ship provides. Why would you NOT want to enjoy that cocktail in the sun?! With upholstered seating and ocean views enjoy your Big Greek (no not that lifeguard you met in Mykonos, but a delicious cocktail) whilst soaking up the rays, or a refreshing Basil Lemonade. (See below for menu).

Too much sun? Or just want to chill? The Dock House on Virgin Voyages is the perfect place to hang out, with its laid-back beach club vibe. Expect an accompaniment of acoustic tunes to make the living easy. Serving the same choice of thirst-quenchers as The Dock, but inside, you will find The Dock House at the back (Aft) of Deck 7.

The Social Club Bar on Virgin Voyages. Image: Virgin Voyages

The Social Club is the Virgin Voyages gaming and playing zone, incorporating the Loose Cannon Bar with its quizzes and bar games, table football (fusball) and even an indoor table shuffleboard. All that fun works up a thirst and whilst the Social Bar serves a range of floats and milkshakes, these can come with the added kick of your choice. Add to that carnival-style bar snacks and you’re sorted for end-of-the pier fun.

The Loose Cannon Bar on Virgin Voyages. Image: Virgin Voyages.

Ahoy Sailors! You will definitely enjoy this nautically-themed bar (not in a cliché sense obviously - this is Virgin Voyages after all). Inspired by the traditional-yet-cool seaside bars of Brighton, Loose Cannon features wooden tables with white/navy painted bentwood bar stools/chairs. The polished bar even features a brass ships bell - which is rung to announce quizzes and games. Even the drinks have creative names with a nautical nod, such as Shiver Me Timbers cocktail or the made-for-sharing Shell Game.

The Grounds Club on Virgin Voyages. Image: Virgin Voyages.

Not a bar in the strictest sense of the word - but it is a very special coffee bar serving complimentary drip coffee and premium barista-prepared delights. You can also, of course, add a shot (or two) of your favourite tipple if you need more than caffeine as a pick-me-up.

Draught Haus Tap Room on Virgin Voyages. Image: Virgin Voyages.

Located on Deck 7, this cosy bar will be one of the first bars you will possibly discover on-board a Virgin Voyages ship, and is the perfect casual meet up spot on the ship to grab an expertly brewed beer with friends. Offering eight beers on tap, Draught Haus offers a wide range of bottled artisanal beers, shots, shot-cocktails and boilermakers (for my UK readers this is a whiskey shot with a beer chaser). The bar will also offer a jug (growler) service, so you can enjoy the expertly curated craft beers in any of you ship’s uniquely designed public spaces or in the comfort of your cabin. For my UK real ale fans, currently I don’t believe there are any draft bitters available, but a good opportunity to try something new. I particularly liked the Shot Tails - particularly The Jelly Fish. Try it!

Draught Haus Menu

This is the upper story of The Manor nightclub and event space, serving the same menu as above. Its a very atmospheric spot and the upper floor is great if you want somewhere just a little more relaxed to watch the action below, whilst still enjoying the music. Great tunes (is that still a thing to say?), great drinks and a great vibe. Couldn’t ask for more.

Sip Champagne Bar on Virgin Voyages. Image: Virgin Voyages

Sip is a decadent champagne lounge designed to be enjoyed with a chilled glass of bubbles. Featuring a diverse curation of Champagne labels, including Moët & Chandon – Sip is Virgin Voyages’ featured Champagne house. You can opt for a glass of bubbles priced from $9 or splash out on a $1,000 vintage bottle (I wish!). In a nod to Virgin’s quintessential British heritage and eccentricity, Sip also offers a signature afternoon tea ($35 with bubbles, $19 without), which delights the eyes as well as the taste buds, whilst celebrating the ocean. The perfect bar to start, spend or end your evening. You can never go wrong with Champagne after all. (Other drinks are of course available).

Sip Bar Menu

We know to expect the quirky and the entertaining from Virgin Voyages, and this restaurant is no exception. If you love BBQ and drinking games then you won’t want to miss this one.

A social, hands on, interactive, fun dining experience, Gunbae features specially engineered flameless grills built into each table so you can grill meats to you preference. Gunbae is probably the loudest eatery on board, as each meal will begin with a complimentary round of soju for the table and throughout the evening sailors are encouraged to take part in lively Korean drinking games. Soju is a clear Korean alcoholic spirit - not a card game as I first thought apparently. As well as a selection of Suju and Sake Cocktails you can also choose beer and wine (not shown). Although the bar isn’t a separate entity, drinking is almost the raison d’etre for this restaurant and I defy you to still be able to walk when you leave!

GunbAe Bar Menu (Sample)

The Galley on Deck 15 is a 24/7 Food Court, and whether you like a Bloody Mary with your breakfast, a glass of something chilled with lunch/dinner or a nightcap after an evening of superb entertainment, you can enjoy a choice from the drinks menu.

Virgin Voyages Wellness Pool featuring Gin & Tonic Bar Image: Virgin Voyages.

Feeling virtuous after your workout at B-Complex? And so you should! Time to visit the Gym & Tonic bar, perfectly positioned between The Aquatic Club Well-being pool and B-Complex gym and workout areas. Treat yourself to a healthy, fruity smoothie or freshly-pressed juice - and I might join you in a less virtuous option from the full bar menu.

The Aquatic Club with bar in background. Image: Virgin Voyages

Virgin Voyages’ chic, glamorous pool area looks like something out of a vintage Hollywood movie, surrounded with purple double loungers at the pool edge crying out for that selfie pout. Of course, to seriously embrace the sophisticated celeb lifestyle you need a colourful cocktail or glass of bubbles in your hand. Thank goodness the Aquatic Club Bar has your back with its extensive bar menu including some icy favourites.

The Aquatic/Sun Club Bar Menu

The Athletic Club Bar on Virgin Voyages. Image: Virgin Voyages

Inspired by New York sports clubs of the 1920’s, Virgin Voyages’ The Athletic Club is an expansive space designed by Concrete Amsterdam. Featuring oversized gaming for outdoor adult play (no, NOT that sort), the largest daybed at sea, cabanas for relaxation, a sports bar for socialising post-workout and more. If you are a gym bunny, you can rehydrate here (Re-Fresh or Re-Cover are options on the bar menu). Of course being such a fabulous space, you may decide to base yourself in or around The Athletic Club bar - and who could blame you. With access to the catamaran net, contemporary lounging and those fabulous wake views it is definitely the place to be. Of course, along with the healthier sounding beverages, you can still indulge in frozen cocktails, wines, beer and more.

The Sun Club Café Bar Image: Virgin Voyages

Overlooking The Aquatic Club pool, the Sun Club Cafe on Virgin Voyages is a casual eatery with a sunny bar serving frozen cocktails, juices and a full bar menu In fact the Sun Club has the same drinks as The Aquatic Club beneath them. With red bistro tables and chairs plus the iconic red double cabanas you will be sure to find the perfect spot in the sun to enjoy your chosen beverage.

The Bar at Richard’s Rooftop on Virgin Voyages ship. Image: Virgin Voyages

If your name’s not down, you’re not coming in! So you had better make sure that you are on the VIP list for this one. For access-all-areas you will need to book yourself one of the Rockstar or Mega-Rockstar Quarters (Suites). Your reward will be exclusive access to this elite space, with complimentary cocktail soirées and lavish parties. Designed by Tom Dixon’s Design Research Studio, Virgin Voyages Richard’s Rooftop is an an exclusive chic outdoor lounge.  With luxurious seating and fabulous views, it is a very desirable space for those who enjoy the finer things in life.

Whether it’s bubbles to get the party started while you are getting ready for Scarlet Night, a sundowner for watching the sunset from your Terrace hammock, or a shot of caffeine to start your day, Ship Eats will bring it straight to your door. Note that there is a $5 service charge added to your order for room service - so you might as well add a snack or two to make it even more worth your while.
