About SIX THE MUSICAL

We all learnt how to remember the fate of each of Henry VIII’s unfortunate wives - Divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived. Well, Six The Musical brings it all to life and into the 21st Century.

From Tudor queens to pop princesses, the wives of Henry VIII take the mic to reclaim their identities out of the shadow of their infamous spouse—remixing five hundred years of historical heartbreak into an exuberant celebration of 21st century girl power.

My Own Review of Six the Musical

Having been inspired by NCL’s press release, when an opportunity came to see the show in London’s West End (via my daughter who had a spare ticket) , I jumped at the chance.

The performance was in one of the smallest theatres I’d ever been in, The Arts Theatre bear Leicester Square. It would fit several times within a ship’s theatre - lets just call it intimate!

Although I had an idea of the premise of the show, nothing could prepare me for the sheer energy and positive vibe straight from the start. It was more like being at a concert of your favourite girl band. The all-female cast and band worked so hard and were all on stage throughout the performance. There were rock songs and ballads (even some rap) - each telling the personal story of that particular queen - so educational too (although there were elements of poetic licence). The audience warmed to each individual member of the ‘Six’ who’s contrasting personalities shone through. It was funny and emotive in equal measure and I left feeling empowered and with a better grasp on that part of our history. I also can’t wait to see it again, so that helps when choosing my next NCL cruise!
